Session – Mineral Evolution and Mineral Ecology: the Changes in Species Diversity and Complexity in Space and Time
The session is devoted to recent advances in understanding evolution, diversity and complexity of minerals and their distribution in space and time.
Session convenor
Professor Sergey Krivovichev (Russia)
St. Petersburg State University
Sergey Krivovichev was born in 1972 and received his PhD and Doctor of Sciences degrees from St. Petersburg State University. He is currently a Head of the Federal Kola Science Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Apatity, Russia) and Professor of Crystallography at St. Petersburg State University.

Professor Sergey V. Krivovichev
Russia
Sergey V. Krivovichev obtained his CSci and DSci degrees from St. Petersburg State University in 1997 and 2001, respectively. After working on postdoctoral fellowships in University of Notre Dame, University of Kiel and Innsbruck University, he returned back to St. Petersburg to become Full Professor and Chairman of the Department of Crystallography at St. Petersburg State University. In 2014-2016, he was President of the International Mineralogical Association. He has a mineral ‘krivovichevite’ named in his honor. His research interests include structural mineralogy, crystallography of new minerals, uranium minerals and inorganic compounds, and complexity of inorganic crystal structures.
