Call for workshops


The Local Organising Committee invites suggestions for workshops to be included in program of the XXII Meeting of the International Mineralogical Association (IMA2018) to be held from 13-17 August 2018 in Melbourne, Australia.

Interested parties are invited to submit a workshop here.

Deadline: 3 April 2017

Possible meeting themes at IMA2018 may include:

  • Applied mineralogy, materials science
  • Clay science
  • Mineralogy at high pressure and temperature
  • Economic geology/mineralogy
  • Environmental mineralogy/geochemistry/biomineralogy
  • General and specific mineralogy
  • Geochemistry and Petrology
  • Geochronology
  • Methods and applications
  • Mineralogical crystallography
  • Historical mineralogy and mineral museums
  • Planetary mineralogy
  • Synchrotron/neutron science

Terms and conditions

What is involved in submitting a workshop suggestion?
To submit a workshop please fill in the online session submission form. Please ensure you fill in all mandatory information and agree to the terms and conditions.

If my workshop is selected, will I be responsible for that session?
Yes, if your workshop is selected for inclusion in the program you will be responsible for the development of the workshop. This includes but is not limited to

  • Encouraging and promoting involvement in your workshop.
  • Developing the overall workshop and recommending speakers.

May I submit more than one workshop?
Yes, you may submit more than one workshop, however you must be willing to be involved in the development in all workshops suggested that are accepted as part of the program.

Terms and conditions

In submitting a workshop suggestion I agree to the below terms and conditions if my workshop is accepted and included in the IMA2018 program;

  • Take responsibility for the development of the workshop including but not limited to
    • Encouraging and promoting involvement in your workshop.
    • Developing the overall workshop and recommending speakers.
  • Register and pay to attend IMA2018 as a full time delegate.
  • All workshops must be cost neutral. The cost of running the workshop must either be covered by a sponsor or by attracting a minimum number of paying workshop attendees. Workshops that are not cost neutral will be cancelled.
